The Cambridge Small Boats Head 2008 took place on Saturday 4th October.
The forecast for the day was for increasing southerly winds, and this proved to be the case with conditions deteriorating throughout. Weather information for the Cambridge Computer Lab (4km west of the finish) can be found in text and graph form.
During the third division a horse "jumped" (fell?) into the river at Grassy corner. The race was stopped for those who hadn't already passed that point, and delayed while the horse was removed from the river; unfortunately this required the fire brigade as there are no easy exit points (for a horse) along the tow path side of the river. We'd like to apologise for the delay (of about an hour), and thank competitors in the third and fourth divisions for cooperating with the officials.
